Creative Joy & Resilience

Creative Joy seems an unlikely theme for a retreat led by me. My life’s work has been done in places of suffering, of trauma, of injustice and loss. What does creative joy have to do with any of that?

Simply this: the work I have chosen to do has the potential to strip me of my creativity and my joy – and to leave me burned out and of no use to anyone, unless I learn (and practice) ways to reconnect with the things that bring me joy, the things that help me feel alive, vibrant, grateful, playful and creative.

I’ve been burned out, as have so many aid and humanitarian workers and so many people who serve others. And today I know that daily practices that connect me to my own creative joy are essential to my resilience – to my ability to stay well in a world of suffering.

So this is Creative Joy. A daily practice. A life-long learning. And a retreat, with me, Jen Louden and Tracey Clark.

You have a few more days to join in and practice #mycreativejoy – finding the moments of creative joy in your day, and giving yourself the chance to win free tuition to the Creative Joy Retreat in October.

To learn more about creative joy, ways to practice it every day and how to win a free place a the retreat, download the gorgeous free Creative Joy Playbook here.
