The intimacy hypothesis, expanded (in which I sing, off-key)

Thanks so much to everyone who responded to my questions about how social media has influenced your interest, knowledge and engagement on social issues.

It turns out that these new fangled tools really are doing the job of connecting us to more information and more opportunities to take action on things we care about.

Of course, social media is just the tool, it’s our shared passion that is leading to change. But the tools are pretty cool, and they are making things possible that we couldn’t have dreamed of even a few years ago.

Here’s the presentation I gave at the forum on Social Media for Social Change in Wellington yesterday (organised by James Samuel, with smart ideas presented by James himself, me and some of my favorite bright-young-things, Sam Rye and Josh Forde from Enspiral).

Not sure how to watch the prezi? You can click the play arrow to progress through the ‘slides’ manually. Or choose ‘Autoplay’ from the ‘More’ menu in the lower right-hand corner of the prezi window and it’ll play the whole things for you. You can also choose ‘Full-screen’ mode there. If you can’t see the image of the presentation, then just click on the link in the title (How Twitter Changed My Life, below) and it’ll take you to the prezi site itself.

And yes, I do sing in there, somewhere. What can I say. I’ve been working long hours. My judgement may have been a little impaired at the time of recording. Please feel free to enjoy at my expense.

I am really getting into twitter but have to limit it to 15 minutes a day or else I could keep clicking to open all sorts of links!!

It is really exciting to connect with people all over the world 🙂

Your singing made me smile 🙂
