A gift of joy

Portrait by Susannah Conway

Sometimes, like now, life turns out to be a bit trickier than I expected.

These are the times when I find myself blinking like a mole in the daylight.

When I’m tired. And unsure what my own bright future holds.

When my sure places are shaky. And my steady hands are fumbling.

These are the times when kindness and joy surprise and sustain me.

The kindness of strangers buoys me like an unexpected tailwind at the end of a long, hard run.

The kindness of my sangha – my community – keeps me afloat.

And a gift of joy comes out of nowhere to remind me that the shadow always exists only in relation to the light.

And because these are strange and uncertain times for many of us, I want to share this gift with you.

So for the month of April, everyone who signs up for either of my 30 Days of Yoga courses will receive a free guided meditation on joy from my own meditation teacher, Peter Fernando.

May you find something to take joy in today.
