First update from Amara in Pakistan:

[We served] our first meal distribution to 800 IDPs yesterday (14th May). Since we were getting late in leaving from Islamabad and we had promised the IDPs that we will serve them dinner, we took along the first meal prepared instead of cooking there. The distribution was done in a cooperative spirit with the help of volunteers from Islamabad, local community (Mardan) and IDPs themselves.
From Islamabad, the volunteers for the distribution of meals to the families yesterday were Abbas, Sherbaz and Irfan. We also had excellent cooperation and support from the local razakaars in Mardan and IDPs of Swat.
We have now started cooking and serving meals on the spot from our community kitchen. The IDPs are also helping us with the work in kitchen. Lunch was
served today at 12:30. Afzaal Bajwa from our team is in-charge of the camp.
An electric water cooler/dispenser with a filter has been installed; the constant supply of clean cold water has been highly appreciated by the IDPs.

Amara and her team of volunteers are doing such vital work, and they need our support. You can still support them through my ChipIn page – I'm aiming for $1000 but I'll be sending what we have raised through to her as we make our way towards that goal.

NB: If you are on Twitter you can follow UNHCR and get live tweets from their staff in the field in Pakistan.
