Off the Mat, Into the World: Yoga in Action courses

I’m thrilled to be the New Zealand leader for ‘Off the Mat, Into the World’ an organization founded by Seane Corn, Hala Khouri and Suzanne Sterling. They have developed a fantastic ‘Yoga in Action’ course to help yogis (and non-yogis who are open to trying a bit of yoga) clarify their purpose and find ways to make a difference in the world. I lead this course in New Zealand, find out more here.

To find out when and where I’ll next be offering the Yoga in Action course, sign-up for my mailing list and tick the ‘Yoga in New Zealand’ box.

“Just wanted to say thank you for organising the OTM course. The first day was absolutely brilliant. I felt privileged to be in he room with all of you. It was such a wonderful feeling of sangha. In my opinion, you are a humble and wise leader. For me your presence was grounding, encouraging and nourishing. I aspire to embody some of the qualities you seem to radiate with such ease. It is an honour to know you.” Kelly – yoga teacher and Off the Mat participant

Yoga coaching

Yoga was traditionally taught one on one. Classes are wonderful for maintaining your own practice once you know what works for you, but the best way to be introduced to yoga is through individual coaching. If we work together one on one I can find the practices that suit and serve you best.

Yoga coaching rates: $100 for the first session and development of personal practice, $70 for follow up sessions. This service is offered both in person and online/distance (using videos).

“Honestly, you couldn’t have known my entire history and written a better yoga program for me there.  When I first did [the pose], I honestly almost cried.  I’ve NEVER come across that before in any of my classes or books and it’s EXACTLY what I need.” Cath, online/distance yoga client

Custom yoga classes and courses

I can also teach yoga classes or workshops in your organization or institution or at your retreat or event.

Examples of topics for special yoga workshops include:

  • Yoga for Stress Relief
  • Yoga for People Who Sit at a Desk/Use a Computer All Day
  • Yoga for Back Pain
  • Yoga for Relaxation

The cost for a general yoga class or a special yoga workshop for your group or event varies depending on duration, number of people and location. Get in touch with me to find out more.

Other great yoga teachers

One of the things I love about yoga is a the incredible scope there is within the system of yoga for developing and following your own authentic yogic path. What that means is that not all yoga teachers are going to suit everyone. If I’m not your yogic cup of tea then, please, don’t give up on yoga, try working with another teacher.

If you are based in Wellington, here are some recommended yoga teachers and studios: Kelly Fisher and Lynda Miers-Henneveld of Yoga Unlimited; Melissa Billington of MYOGA; Tyag Fenton of Yoga for Freedom; Ali Hale Tilley of Sadhana Yoga.

I also highly recommend the Original Nature group of Buddhist insight meditation teachers. I’ve had the privilege of studying with three of the four teachers at Original Nature and their wise, gentle teachings have been of enormous benefit.

If you are based anywhere else in New Zealand then the best place to find a yoga teacher is through The Yoga Lunchbox, which is New Zealand’s best yoga website: you’ll find teacher profiles from all over the country and great articles including a beginner’s guide to yoga.
