I give referrals very carefully and based only on first-hand experience. These people are the people who have taught, inspired and coached me.

Kick-ass coaches and courses

Danielle LaPorte’s firestarter sessions are one-off conversations for surfacing opportunities and zooming in on strategies. Danielle lit a fire under me and I know she can do the same for you. Now you can experience Danielle’s razor-sharp insight via her brand new ‘The Spark Kit’ digital experience. I’m an affiliate for the Spark Kit because I know it’s good – better than good – it’s White Hot!

Susannah Conway is the creator and host of the phenomenal Unravelling e-course, which uses the camera as a tool to unlock how we see ourselves and the world we live in. Susannah has created this course out of her own experience of unravelling her self after the death of her beloved several years ago and the raw, courageous honesty she brings to the process is transformational.

Jen Lemen and Andrea Scher’s Mondo Beyondo e-course is bringing the power of wild dreaming to thousands, and are they thereby changing the world, one dream at a time. If you are having trouble even allowing yourself to dream wildly, then the Mondo Beyondo course is for you.

Ordinary Sparkling MomentsChristine Mason Miller is an artist, writer, explorer and creative entrepreneur who has taught me so much about creating my own style of doing business. Her book, Ordinary Sparkling Moments, is an exploration of the beauty and mystery of ordinary life.

Jen Louden is an author, coach, speaker, and retreat creator. One of my most nourishing and powerful learning experiences in 2010 was the Teach Now course I did with Jen and Michele Lisenbury Christensen. I’ve also been finding satisfaction with Jen’s Satisfaction Finder. I am an affiliate for Jen because I can whole-heartedly endorse Jen’s wisdom, clarity and compassion – which combine to make her a transformative teacher.

Yoga, Buddhist and meditation teachers

Sean CorneHala Khouri and Suzanne Sterling are the yoga teachers (and social champions) who established the Off the Mat Into the World. I’m the Off the Mat regional leader for New Zealand and Australia. They also developed the Yoga in Action course which I deliver here in New Zealand. They embody mindful activism and compassionate clarity and they are my ‘sheroes’.

Most of my teacher training was in Shiva Rea‘s intuitive, flowing style of hatha yoga known as Prana Flow. I received most of my training from Shiva’s master trainer Twee Merrigan, a powerful and passionate yoga teacher who is committed to sharing yoga as a path to living a life of joy, liberty and service.

My Buddhist meditation teacher is Peter Fernando, who lived and trained as a Buddhist monk in the tradition of Ajahn Chah for seven years. By modeling genuine compassion and joy in all his teachings, Peter has been a huge influence on my own journey towards the gentleness of my original nature. His online meditation course ‘A Month of Mindfulness‘ creates an environment of committed daily practice, supported by personal guidance, audio and written resources, and a community of like-hearted individuals.

Susan Piver is an author and meditation teacher who says of her Buddhism: “I practice formal sitting meditation, acting right, being nice, digging deep, and forgiving myself when I screw up.” I highly recommend her blog, her introduction to meditation and her books. Her newest book is The Wisdom of a Broken Heart.

Karen Maezen Miller calls herself “an errant wife, delinquent mother, reluctant dog walker, expert laundress and stationmaster of the full catastrophe.” I call her teacher. She writes about spirituality in everyday life. Her newest book is Hand Wash Cold: Care Instructions for an Ordinary Life.

Ronen Hirsch is the creator of iBreathe, an one-year long personalised course in Pranayama, the yogic practice of breathing. If you are already a practitioner of yoga then Pranayama can complement and, with a little exploration, refine your current practices. If you’ve never practiced yoga – Pranayama can be a great place to start. I started this course with Ronen in January 2011 and I’ve been impressed with his care and insight.

Healers

Philip Jameson is who I turn to when my chi is out of whack, when I’m struggling with lethargy, insomnia, digestive problems or my niggly hip. What he does is like magic. Except it’s not. It’s the ancient science of acupuncture and acupressure. And it works. Highly recommended.

Smart social media, whip-sharp writing and non-sleazy marketing

Social Web
The Unconventional Guide to Social Media by Gwen Bell and Chris Guillebeau is NOT like other social media guides. Gwen is a yoga teacher and Chris is a social renegade, and they understand that people like us do not want to know how to get rich quick on Twitter. They understand that we want to use social media in a way that aligns with our own unique way of being of service in the world.

Helen Heath is a writer and new media maven, book marketer and copywriting whiz. If you need a guide to the world of social media who is as patient and approachable as she is savvy, then Helen is your woman.

Emma Alvarez Gibson is not only one of the funniest people in the Twitterverse, she is also one of the kindest. She is also whip-smart, a master of the written word and a life-line to anyone, like me, who gets a little jittery as soon as anyone starts talking about ‘brand’.

Site design

S. Joy studios / Sarah Bray. Sarah did my site. Her “lite site” templates are perfect for people like you and me, people who want a smart, clean, friendly website without the huge price tag.
