30 days of yoga: a course in finding, and keeping, your own home practice of yoga
You already know how awesome yoga is, right? You love your yoga classes and you know that a home practice would take that goodness to a whole new level. But it’s hard to practice at home. All kinds of things get in the way.
Maybe, like I did, you’ve started to think that you’ll never be one of those people who can find the motivation to practice yoga by yourself? I hear you. I created this course for myself because I struggled with my home yoga practice. I tried bribing myself into it, nagging myself into it, forcing myself into it. None of that worked.
What worked – for me and for hundreds of others – is the simple, compassionate approach I set out in this course. 30 days of yoga is an online program designed to give you everything you need to begin (or restart) a regular practice of yoga in the comfort of your own home. All you need to bring is the intention to give yourself what you need and the willingness to be a bit kinder to yourself than you might generally be.
When does it start? There are two options. With the self-directed option (for which registration is open year-round) you can start whenever you want. Alternatively, a couple of times a year I lead a group course where we all start together. To get early notice of those group sessions, join my mailing list (sign up at the bottom of this page).
How much does it cost? The price is US$100, and you have the option of paying all at once or in four weekly installments of US$25. You also have the option of adding on 2 hours of one-on-one coaching by Skype or email with me to support your practice. The total price for a 30 day membership plus extended coaching is $240.

Beginners 30 days of yoga: on online course for brand new, ‘never-omed in my life’ yogis and yoginis
All your friends keep raving about yoga, right? And if taxi drivers and Iraq war vets are doing yoga, then you think it might be time to give it a try yourself. But there are no classes where you live. Or you’re afraid to go along to a class because you’re really inflexible, or uncoordinated, or just a little more lusciously proportioned than the svelte hipsters who seem to fill the classes in the trendy neighbourhood yoga studio? Or maybe, like I did, you live in the mountains of Afghanistan and the nearest yoga studio is a long-haul flight away.
I created this course for you. It’s possible to begin your practice of yoga with the body you have right now, no matter how unbendy, curvy or uncoordinated it may be. You can start with only 10-15 minutes per day. So that’s what we’ll do. I’ve designed this course to get you started with smallest, least intimidating steps imaginable: your first 30 days of yoga!

30 days of yoga for people who are too busy to do yoga
Are you too busy to do yoga?
Maybe you’re one of the people who looked at my standard 30 Days of Yoga course and thought: “That’s what I need. That’s exactly what I need to loosen the knots in my shoulders, the constant pain in my lower back, this feeling that I’m never going to catch up. But where would I find the time to do yoga? I’m overwhelmed with everything else as it is! I’ll do that course as soon as things are less busy.”
Maybe you are one of the people who emailed me to say exactly that!
Well I was listening. And I knew I had to make something for you. I couldn’t get rid of this idea that the very people who needed my yoga course the most felt like it was just going to add more stress to their lives, rather than help ease it.
So I created this new course: 30 Days of Yoga for People Too Busy To Do Yoga.

30 Days of Curvy Yoga: yoga for your body with guest teacher Anna Guest-Jelley of CurvyYoga.com
Anna and I created this course because we know what it’s like to practice yoga with a body that probably won’t be on the cover of a yoga mag anytime soon (although we’d totally buy that mag if it were!), whether because our curves are too fabulous to be contained there, that nagging knee injury or that creaky noise your back makes in the morning. This is yoga for your body.
30 Days of Curvy Yoga will run again in January 2012. To be the first to know about future courses, join the mailing list below (sign up at the bottom of this page).

Free course: a Zen Peacekeeper Guide to Twitter
There are plenty of guides to Twitter out there already. What makes this a uniquely Zen Peacekeeper guide to Twitter is that:
How does that translate to Twitter? It means working out how to use Twitter in a way that enhances your life in a way that is meaningful to you while avoiding Twitter overwhelm.
This free online course includes ten lessons that you receive over a month covering everything from what Twitter is and 10 tips to get started, through to how to avoid Twitter overwhelm and how to use Twitter for good.
“I learned how to effectively use twitter thanks to Marianne’s Twitter guide. Although there are other similar resources available on the internet, Marianne’s is unique for many reasons. Her guide has illustrations and images which show what the Twitter jargon actually means. Her guide takes you step by step through how to utilize twitter most effectively: lists, chats, and hashtags. The way she presents information doesn’t seem overwhelming. I have nothing but immense gratitude to offer Marianne for sharing this wealth of information in such a structured format.” – Annie Syed
“Dear Marianne, I don’t believe I have the words to adequately express how much the ‘Twitter” series of emails I’ve received from you have touched me. I really feel like I can ‘do’ Twitter – and Facebook – in a way that is meaningful to me and my business. I have all the pieces, and your words helped me see how I just might be able to put them together into a cohesive whole. It can be part of daily practice, rather than daily distraction. What an idea! Anyway, I found your words wise, thoughtful, practical and supportive. In deep gratitude.” - Ellen Kozub

Free class: Easy-Breezy Do-It-In-Your-Chair Yoga
In December 2010 I found myself feeling a little, ahem, overwhelmed. I was bone-tired and, at the same time, scattered and jittery. I knew I needed some very gentle yoga. Some very easy-breezy, do-it-in-my-chair yoga. At about the same time I noticed the same theme emerging in comments, tweets and conversations with friends. There was a palpable need for the easy kind of yoga that calls ‘time-out’ on the overwhelm and gently replenishes our inner reserves.
So I put together a free 30 minute very gentle, easy-breezy, do-it-in-your-chair-if-you-like, no-lycra-needed yoga class.
It really is easy. You can download the recording, put it on your iPod and take me and my fabulous Kiwi accent with you wherever you might need an emergency yoga break. If it all gets to be too much just slip out the back door or hide in the toilet and listen along.
“Absolutely wonderful, Marianne. Thank you so much. Warm, simple, strong, effective. You are awesome.” – Emma Elvarez Gibson
“Thank you Marianne, for this gift. It was just what I needed this afternoon to calm me in the midst of holiday preparations. The loving kindness meditation will be incorporated into my morning practice. You are a loving light in the world.” – Cheryl

Off the Mat, Into the World: Yoga in Action courses
“Just wanted to say thank you for organising the Off the Mat course. The first day was absolutely brilliant. I felt privileged to be in the room with all of you. It was such a wonderful feeling of sangha. In my opinion, you are a humble and wise leader. For me your presence was grounding, encouraging and nourishing. I aspire to embody some of the qualities you seem to radiate with such ease. It is an honour to know you.” Kelly – yoga teacher and Off the Mat participant
‘Off the Mat, Into the World’ uses the tools of yoga to create a more conscious, sustainable community of change-makers through workshops, community collaborations and local/global service projects. I’m thrilled to be the Regional Leader for Off the Mat for NZ and Australia.
