Starting the day with a friend in Ghor

Chopper ride

The ancient Russian helicopter was specially selected to make me look young.

Stunning scenery as a birthday treat.

Birthday celebrations at the shelter (blurry to protect the innocent, including me in a silly hat)

The girls made me presents

Birthday dress - make by women at the shelter

Tea with a dear friend

Birthday dinner with another old friend (at the house I lived in when I first came to Herat)

Second birthday cake of the day. Less fancy. But delicious and made with love.

The pictures are wonderful and really moving. I got a bit teary looking at them. I think because what you’re doing is to incredible and so few would be brave enough to try. You really are beautiful, inside and out.
